Pharmacological action of
Pyrogenal is a lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in phosphate-buffered saline, isolated from Salmonella typhi cells. Pyrogenal is an immunomodulator of a wide spectrum of action, the main of which are activation of the reticuloendothelial, hypothalamic-pituitary and fibrinolytic systems. Pyrogenal possesses adjuvant, desensitizing and anti-inflammatory properties, increases the general and specific resistance of the body, affects the thermoregulatory centers of the hypothalamus. Pyrogenalum has an effect on many organs and systems, which predetermined a wide area of its use as a nonspecific agent in the treatment of various diseases in surgical, neurosurgical, urological, gynecological, ophthalmic, venereal, therapeutic, psychiatric practice, in pediatrics.
Indications
The drug is prescribed for nonspecific therapy: - For traumatic injuries of the central and peripheral nervous system.
- With torpid-current form of tuberculosis in the resorption phase.
- For chronic liver disease.
- For strictures of the urethra and ureters. With chronic prostatitis and urethritis.
- For uveitis.
- With iridocyclitis.
- For herpes viral infections of the eyes.
- With clouding of the cornea.
- In inflammatory processes of the uterus.
- For infertility.
- For adhesive disease of the abdomen.
- For burn disease.
- For sexually transmitted diseases.
- For psoriasis and other chronic skin diseases.
Contraindications
- Acute febrile illness.
- Chronic diseases in the stage of exacerbation and decompensation, with the exception of diseases that are an indication for the appointment of pyrogenal.
- Blood Diseases.
- Pregnancy.

Composition
1 ml of solution for intramuscular injection contains: Lipopolysaccharide 50 mcg.
Dosage and administration
Intramuscularly once a day. Injections are made every other day. If necessary, dilute with 0.9% sodium chloride solution for injection. The drug in an opened ampoule is not subject to storage. The initial single dose is 2.5 mcg. In the following days of injection, the dose is gradually increased by 2.5-5 mcg. The maximum single dose is 100 mcg. A full course of 10 to 30 injections. If necessary, the injection courses are repeated at least after 2-3 months. When prescribing pyrogenal for pyrotherapy, the drug is administered intramuscularly once a day, starting with 5-10 μg, with a gradual increase in dose to 100-150 μg. Injections are made after one or two days as prescribed by the doctor. According to the doctor’s prescription, the combined use of intramuscular injections with the introduction of suppositories is also possible.
