Aversectin ointment 30g
DESCRIPTION
Aversectin ointment is a drug for the treatment of arachnoentomoses in carnivores and rabbits. Dosage form: ointment for external use. In appearance, the drug is a mass of uniform consistency, white with a yellowish tinge.
COMPOSITION
Aversectin ointment as an active ingredient contains aversectin C - 0.05%, as well as auxiliary substances: polyethylene oxide - 1500, distilled glycerin and polyethylene oxide - 400.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Aversectin ointment is an insectoacaricidal drug of contact and systemic action from the class of macrocyclic lactones.
Aversectin C, which is a part of Aversectinova Ointment, is active against larval and mature phases of development of sarcoptoid ticks (Sarcoptes canis, Sarcoptes vulpis, Notoedres cati, Otodectes cynotis, Psoroptes cuniculi) and demodectic and canine insects (Demode Ctenocephalides felis, Linognathus setotus, Trichodectes canis) parasitizing dogs, cats, fur-bearing animals and rabbits.
The mechanism of action of aversectin C consists in its effect on the magnitude of the current of chlorine ions through the membranes of the nerve and muscle cells of the parasite. The main targets are glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels, as well as gamma aminobutyric acid receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasite.
When the ointment is applied to the skin, aversectin C has a contact effect in the places of localization of ectoparasites (on the skin, in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands), and after absorption it has a systemic insectoacaricidal effect.
The maximum concentration of aversectin C in the blood serum after applying the ointment is observed on the 3-5th day. Aversectin is excreted from the body, mainly with feces in an unchanged form within 10-12 days.
Ointment aversectin according to the degree of impact on the body refers to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses does not have a local irritant, resorptive-toxic, sensitizing, embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic effect. Well tolerated by dogs, cats, fur animals and rabbits of different breeds and ages. Toxic to bees, as well as fish and other aquatic organisms.
Aversectin ointment should not be used in conjunction with avermectin-containing and other antiparasitic drugs for treating animals.
PURPOSE
Aversectin ointment is used to treat dogs, cats and fur-bearing animals with sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis, otodectosis, demodicosis and entomoses; rabbits - with psoroptosis.
APPLICATION
In animals suffering from sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis, demodectic mange, hair is preliminarily cut off in the affected areas, crusts and scabs are removed, and then a thin layer of ointment is applied with a spatula (glass stick or cotton-gauze swab), evenly spreading from the periphery to the center, and rubbed into the affected areas with the capture of borderline healthy skin up to 1 cm.
To prevent licking of the drug, the animals wear a neck collar, muzzle or fix the jaws with braid, which are removed after the coat is completely dry.
The treatment is carried out 2-5 times with an interval of 5-7 days until the animal's clinical recovery, which is confirmed by two negative results of microscopic examinations of scrapings from the affected skin areas.
Animals with extensive areas of skin lesions are treated in two doses with an interval of one day, applying the ointment first on one half of the affected surface of the body, and then on the other.
In case of acarosis complicated by infection of bacterial or fungal etiology, it is recommended to use immunomodulatory, antibacterial or antifungal agents.
With the ear form of scabies in dogs, cats, fur-bearing animals and rabbits, the external auditory canal is cleaned of scabs and crusts with a damp swab, then ointment is applied to each ear. The ointment can be melted (in the packaging of the manufacturer) in hot water to a liquid state and instilled into the ears in a warm form.
For a more complete treatment of the entire surface of the ear and the auditory canal, the auricle is folded in half and its base is lightly massaged.
Processing is carried out 1-2 times with an interval of 5-7 days. In advanced cases of the disease complicated by otitis media, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated under the control of microscopy of scrapings.
Both ears must be treated with aversectin ointment, even if only one ear is affected by ticks.
In case of entomoses (aphanipterosis, linognatosis, trichodectosis), the ointment is rubbed into the skin with a brush (against hair growth) into places where insects accumulate and then the wool is combed with a comb.
To prevent re-infestation of fleas, the animals are replaced with bedding. Repeated treatments are carried out according to indications, but not more often than 1 time per month.
The frequency of application and the interval between animal treatments are indicated in the table:
Kind of animal Disease Multiplicity of application, interval Note
Rabbits psoroptosis 2 times with an interval of 5-7 days * for ease of use, the ointment can be melted (in the manufacturer's packaging) in hot water to a liquid state and applied warm for insertion into the auricles or rubbing into the affected areas of the body
Cats, dogs, fur animals otodectosis, notoedrosis, sarcoptic mange 2 times with an interval of 5-7 days *
Dogs demodicosis squamous form 3 times with an interval of 5-7 days treatment of pustular and mixed forms should be carried out in a comprehensive manner using etiotropic, pathogenetic and symptomatic drugs
pustular form 7 times with an interval of 7 days
mixed form 7 times with an interval of 7 days *. With multiple lesions with an interval of 5 days *
Dogs, cats, fur animals entomoses (trichodectosis, linognatosis, aphanipterosis) 2 times with an interval of 7-10 days * the ointment is rubbed into the skin against the growth of wool (it can be melted) in places where insects accumulate and in the back of the head. In order to prevent the emergence of fleas and re-infestation of animals, the litter is replaced
* If necessary, the treatment is repeated (with acarosis under the control of microscopy of scrapings).
Violations of the drug use regimen should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in its effectiveness. If the next treatment is missed, it should be carried out as soon as possible in the same dose.
