Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects due to inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes involved in the synthesis of protaglandins. Symptoms

An overdose of moderate severity is characterized by nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, hearing impairment, headache, dizziness, and confusion. These symptoms disappear when the dose of the drug is reduced. Acetylsalicylic acid increases the concentration of digoxin, barbiturates and lithium preparations in the blood plasma. Antacids containing magnesium and / or aluminum hydroxide slow down and impair the absorption of acetylsalicylic acid.
