Pharmachologic effect:

Chlorhexidine has a bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect.

It has a wide antibacterial spectrum of action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, is active against Candida albicans.

Chlorhexidine is especially active against Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus salivarius, Escherichia coli and anaerobic bacteria.

Less effective against such types of microorganisms as Streptococcus spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Klebsiella spp., Veillonella spp.

The anesthetic tetracaine has a local anesthetic effect.

The anesthetic effect occurs within 1-2 minutes after application.

Ascorbic acid is involved in the process of collagen synthesis and tissue regeneration, regulation of redox processes, and enhances immune responses.

By reducing capillary permeability, it helps to reduce inflammation and edema of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and pharynx.

Indications:

Prevention and treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx (including tonsillitis, pharyngitis, the initial stage of angina, stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontal disease, conditions after tonsillectomy or tooth extraction).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, children under 5 years of age, I trimester of pregnancy, sucrase / isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, hypersensitivity (including to other local anesthetic drugs of the ester group or para-aminobenzoic acid and its derivatives).

Carefully:

In the II and III trimesters of pregnancy as prescribed by a doctor, during lactation, with diabetes mellitus, deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, hemochromatosis, sideroblastic anemia, thalassemia, hyperoxaluria, oxalosis and urolithiasis.

Children from 10 to 15 years old: 1 lozenge every 3 hours, but no more than 4 lozenges per day.

Children from 5 to 10 years old: 1 lozenge every 4 hours, but no more than 3 lozenges per day.

The course of treatment is no more than 5 days.

Allergic reactions are possible (in patients with hypersensitivity to drug components).

Exceeding the recommended duration of therapy may cause a short-term taste disturbance)

damage to the tooth enamel is also possible (staining, tartar deposits).

Overdose:

Symptoms: dizziness, general weakness, cyanosis, agitation, anxiety, muscle tremors, respiratory failure, nausea, vomiting.

Treatment: gastric lavage, the appointment of saline laxatives

symptomatic therapy.

Interaction:

Chlorhexidine is not compatible with detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose).

Simultaneous use with iodine is not recommended.

Ethanol enhances the effect of the drug.

Tetracaine reduces the antibacterial activity of sulfa drugs.

Vasoconstrictor agents prolong the effect and reduce the toxicity of tetracaine.

Ascorbic acid increases the concentration of benzylpenicillin and tetracyclines in the blood.

Improves intestinal absorption of iron preparations.

Reduces the effectiveness of heparin and indirect anticoagulants.

Increases the risk of developing crystalluria during treatment with salicylates and short-acting sulfonamides, reduces the concentration of oral contraceptives in the blood.

Special instructions:

It is not recommended to use it simultaneously with preparations for the treatment of the oral cavity and pharynx containing iodine (Lugol's solution, povidone-iodine).

Ascorbic acid, which is part of the drug, can change the results of some laboratory tests, which should be reported during the tests.

Patients with diabetes mellitus should take into account that one lozenge contains 1.4 g of sucrose, which corresponds to 0.12 XE.

According to its pharmacological properties, the drug has no effect on activities requiring increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

The use of the drug for more than 5 days is undesirable due to a possible violation of the normal microflora of the oral cavity and pharynx.

The lozenges should not be taken just before meals or with meals.

After taking the drug, it is not recommended to brush your teeth, since the surfactants contained in the toothpaste can inactivate chlorhexidine.

The drug can affect the results of anti-doping control.
