Adults and children over 12 years old (weighing more than 40 kg) - 1.2 g every 8 hours, with severe infections - every 6
hours.Children 3 months - 12 years old - 30 mg / kg every 8 hours, with severe infections - every 6 hours

Children under 3 months - 30 mg / kg every 8 hours,

premature and newborns - 30 mg / kg every 12 hours.

Each 30 mg of Amoxiclav contains 25 mg of amoxicillin and 5 mg of clavulanic acid.

The course of treatment is 5-14 days. With a decrease in the severity of symptoms, it is recommended to switch to oral forms of the drug to continue therapy.

For the prevention of postoperative infections intravenously before anesthesia, the drug is administered at a dose of 1.2 g.

In patients with renal insufficiency, the dosage regimen should be adjusted. Amoxiclav should be administered as an intravenous injection within 20 minutes after resuspension. Do not freeze solution.

- hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid or penicillins.

The drug should be prescribed with caution in case of allergic reactions to cephalosporins and a history of pseudomembranous colitis, liver failure, severe renal dysfunction. Due to the fact that in a large number of patients with infectious mononucleosis and lymphocytic leukemia, who received ampicillin, the appearance of an erythematous rash was observed, the use of antibiotics of the ampicillin group in such patients is not recommended.

Pharmacological action
It is a combined preparation of clavulanic acid (beta-lactamase inhibitor) and amoxicillin. The drug inhibits the formation of the wall of microorganisms, acts bactericidal. This drug is active against aerobic gram-negative microorganisms and aerobic gram-positive microorganisms.

Side effects
From the digestive system: possible loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; rarely - a transient increase in the activity of liver enzymes, liver dysfunction; in isolated cases - cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, pseudomembranous colitis.
Allergic reactions: erythematous rash, pruritus, urticaria; rarely - exudative erythema multiforme, angioedema, anaphylactic shock; in isolated cases - exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Overdose
There are no reports of death or life-threatening side effects due to drug overdose.
Symptoms: abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting; anxiety, insomnia, dizziness is also possible; in some cases, convulsions.
Treatment: in the case of a recent intake of the drug (less than 4 hours), it is necessary to wash the stomach and prescribe activated charcoal to reduce the absorption of the drug; if necessary, symptomatic therapy is carried out. Hemodialysis is effective.
