Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's dementia.

Inside, in the evening, before bedtime.

Adults / elderly patients. Treatment begins with a dose of 5 mg once a day and continues for at least 4 weeks to achieve Css of donepezil and to assess the early clinical effect of therapy.

After 1 month, the dose of AlzepilЃ can be increased to the maximum recommended daily dose - 10 mg once a day. Doses exceeding 10 mg / day have not been studied in clinical studies.

Treatment should be initiated and supervised by a physician experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's dementia. The diagnosis should be based on accepted recommendations, for example DSM IV, ICD 10.

Treatment with donepezil should only be started with a caregiver who can monitor the drug regularly.

Supportive therapy can be continued as long as the therapeutic effect persists, which should be regularly evaluated. In the absence of a therapeutic effect, the possibility of discontinuation of treatment should be considered.

Impaired kidney and liver function. Patients with impaired renal function do not need to change the treatment regimen, because this condition does not affect the clearance of donepezil.

Due to a possible increase in exposure with mild to moderate hepatic dysfunction, increasing the dose should be carried out taking into account individual tolerance. There are no data on the use of the drug in patients with severe liver dysfunction.

Children and adolescents. AlzepilЃ is not intended for the treatment of children and adolescents.

hypersensitivity (including to derivatives of piperidine) and any of the excipients;

children under 18 years of age (due to the lack of clinical data).
