Iron deficiency can be roughly calculated using the formula: iron, mg = body weight, kg? 3.5? (16? Hb in g%).
The thresholds below or above which iron deficiency is considered to require treatment are shown in the table.

The duration of treatment depends on the etiology and severity of the disease.
To ensure an adequate response, therapy with iron preparations should last at least 8 weeks. With the subsequent normalization of Hb values, treatment should be extended for the next 6Ц8 weeks to replenish the iron depot.
Monitoring indicators. If necessary, the degree of iron deficiency and the subsequent need for iron replacement should be monitored for the following laboratory parameters at intervals of approximately 4 weeks: Hb, erythrocytes, reticulocytes, serum iron, transferrin, mean erythrocyte Hb, mean erythrocyte volume.
If the doctor has not prescribed other dosages, then you should strictly adhere to the instructions below.
Inside. The daily dose is set at the rate of 5 drops / kg, the frequency of administration is 2-3 times a day.
Babies: the average dose is 10-15 drops, 3 times a day.
Preschool children: the average dose is 25Ц35 drops 3 times a day.
School-age children: the average dose is 50 drops 3 times a day.
To open the bottle, you must press the cap down and simultaneously turn in the direction of the arrow. After using the medication, install the cap and screw it tightly (prevents access for children).

hypersensitivity to active or auxiliary components of the drug;
iron absorption disorders (sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia, thalassemia);
increased iron content in the body (hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia);
anemia not associated with iron deficiency;
hereditary intolerance to fructose or galactose, lack of lactase, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrose-isomaltose deficiency.
With caution: the simultaneous use of iron preparations with dietary products and supplements containing iron salts (possible risk of overdose); patients with inflammation and ulcers of the gastrointestinal mucosa (the ratio of the benefits of treatment and the risk of developing exacerbations of gastroenterological diseases during therapy with iron preparations should be assessed).
