DESCRIPTION
Advocate - drops are prescribed for dogs weighing up to 4 kg for the treatment and prevention of demodicosis, otodectosis, sarcoptic mange, entomoses, nematodosis (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariosis, hookworm disease, trichocephalosis, angiostrongylosis, crenosomiasis, and dirofilariasis complex therapy), as well as prophylaxis of dirofilariasis in allergy complex.
COMPOSITION
Advocate in 1 ml contains imidacloprid - 100 mg and moxidectin - 25 mg as active ingredients, as well as auxiliary substances: benzyl alcohol - 807.3 mg, propylene carbonate - 165.0 mg and butylhydroxytoluene - 1 mg.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Imidacloprid belongs to the group of chloronicotinyl insecticides, the mechanism of action of which is based on interaction with the acetylcholine receptors of arthropods and impaired transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to the death of insects.
Moxidectin is a semisynthetic compound of the milbemycin group (macrocyclic lactones), which stimulates the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid and binds to postsynaptic receptors, causing disruption of muscle innervation, paralysis and death of ectoparasites and nematodes.
After applying the drug to the skin, imidacloprid is practically not absorbed, quickly spreads over the surface of the body and, holding on to the epidermis and wool, has a long-term contact insectoacaricidal effect.
According to the degree of impact on the body, the drug belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76): LD50 when administered orally to white mice is more than 1000 mg / kg, with cutaneous application - more than 4000 mg / kg of animal weight; possesses weakly expressed cumulative properties. In recommended doses, the drug has no local irritant, embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and immunotoxic effects, is well tolerated by dogs of different breeds, including collies and related dog breeds. The drug is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms.
MODE OF APPLICATION
The drug is applied by drip (spot-on) application to dry intact skin. Before use, remove the protective cap from the pipette and, placing it vertically, pierce the protective membrane of the pipette tip (putting on the cap from the back side), then remove the cap again. The drug, having parted the fur, is applied to the animal in places inaccessible for licking, directly on the skin between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck. When processing large animals, the contents of the pipettes are applied to the skin in 3-4 places. The minimum therapeutic dose for dogs is 0.1 ml / kg of animal weight (10 mg / kg imidacloprid and 2.5 mg / kg moxidectin).
For dogs up to 4 kgg, the nominal pipette volume is 0.4 ml.
When treating dogs weighing more than 40 kg, the drug is used at the rate of 0.1 ml per kilogram of animal weight, using a combination of pipettes of various packaging.
To eliminate fleas, lice and lice, animals are treated once, to prevent re-invasion - once every four weeks throughout the season of the greatest activity of insects.
In a comprehensive program for the prevention and treatment of allergic dermatitis caused by fleas, Advocate is used once a month.
For the treatment of otodectosis (ear scabies), Advocate drops are used once. In the course of treatment, it is recommended to clean the ear canal from exudate and scabs, and in case of complications from otitis media, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory drugs. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 1 month.
With a therapeutic purpose for sarcoptic mange, the drug is used once a month for two months, with demodicosis - once a month for 2-4 months, in order to prevent possible invasion, the treatment is carried out once a month.
In the treatment of complicated demodicosis, the frequency of application of Advocate is increased up to 1 time per week. Treatment is recommended in a complex manner using etiotropic, pathogenetic and symptomatic drugs.
For deworming animals with nematodes, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, with prophylactic purposes - once a month.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
When working with the drug Advocate, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with medicines. Smoking, drinking and eating are not allowed during work. At the end of work, you should thoroughly wash your hands with warm water and soap.
Do not pet or let the animal near small children within 24 hours after processing.
In case of an overdose of the drug, some dogs may experience depression, dilated pupils, increased salivation, and muscle tremors. In this case, the drug is washed off with water and detergent and general measures are applied to remove it from the body.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to use is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug.
The lawyer is prohibited from using puppies under 7 weeks of age, sick with infectious diseases and recovering dogs, as well as animals of other species. Treatment of dogs weighing less than 1 kg, pregnant and lactating bitches, if necessary, should be carried out with caution under the supervision of a veterinarian.
SIDE EFFECTS
As a rule, there are no side effects and complications when using the drug AdvantixВ® in accordance with this instruction. In rare cases, individual skin reactions (redness, itching) are possible, which spontaneously disappear within 1-4 days and do not require the use of drugs.
In case of allergic reactions in an animal sensitive to the components of the drug, the drug should be thoroughly washed off with soap and water and rinsed with plenty of running water.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
Store Advocate for Dogs in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from 0 В° C to 30 В° C.
The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of production.
