Pharmacological action
Octenisept has an antiseptic effect.
Active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, viruses, such as Herpes simplex virus and hepatitis B virus, as well as against yeast-like fungi and dermatophytes. Systemic absorption of the drug with external and local application is extremely negligible.
Indications
Treatment of skin and mucous membranes before diagnostic and surgical measures in pediatric, surgical and obstetric-gynecological practice, proctology, otolaryngology, dentistry.
In traumatology for the treatment of wound and burn surfaces.
In dermatovenerology for the prevention and treatment of foot mycoses and interdigital mycoses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug. Allergic reactions.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Studies on the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation have not been conducted. Due to the extremely insignificant systemic absorption of the drug, its use during pregnancy and lactation is possible if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus.
Composition
100 ml of the solution contains: Octenidine dihydrochloride 0.1 g, Phenoxyethanol 2.0 g.
Dosage and administration
According to the indications, the skin and mucous membrane are thoroughly and completely treated with Octenisept. Usually, the treatment is carried out with two to three swabs richly moistened with the preparation, which are used to wipe the affected area in turn. Due to the anatomical and physiological features, this method is preferred for the treatment of the mucous membrane.
The drug can be applied to easily accessible areas of the skin by spraying with a mechanical spray gun. The drug can also be used to rinse the mouth and rinse the vaginal area.
Necessary exposure time depending on the area of application: Anogenital area - 1 minute.
Before catheterization of the bladder - 1 minute.
Antiseptic skin treatment before surgery - 2 minutes.
Oral cavity: swab treatment for 2 minutes, rinsing - 1 minute.
Wound surfaces - 1 minute.
In order to prevent fungal diseases, the skin of the interdigital spaces and feet is treated with the drug before and after visiting public places (pool, bath, etc.). In the treatment of fungal skin diseases of the interdigital spaces and feet, the affected areas are treated with the drug in the morning and evening for 14 days.
Drug Interactions
Do not use with iodine-containing antiseptics.
