Pharmacological action of

Pentas - anti-inflammatory. Pentasa reduces the formation of leukotrienes and cytokinins, neutralizes free radicals, and inhibits leukocyte chemotaxis.

Indications

Nonspecific ulcerative colitis Crohn's disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity (including salicylates or other components of the drug) severe impaired liver and kidney function.

Dosage and administration

Side effects

Sensation of discomfort in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, skin rash in the form of urticaria or eczema is very rare - muscle and joint pain, temporary hair loss, impaired liver and kidney function, pericarditis, myocarditis, pancreatitis, changes in the blood formula (leukopenia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia).

Drug Interaction

With the simultaneous use of Pentas, it enhances the hypoglycemic action of sulfanyl urea derivatives, the ACS ulcerogenicity, the methotrexate toxicity and the action of anticoagulants.

With the simultaneous use of Pentas, the activity of furosemide, spironolactone, sulfonamides, rifampicin is attenuated.

With the simultaneous use of Pentas increases the effectiveness of uricosuric drugs.

When used with Pentas, it slows down the absorption of cyancobalamin.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, gastralgia, weakness, drowsiness.
