Pharmacological action
Ciprofloxacin is an antimicrobial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action, and has a bactericidal effect. The drug inhibits the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, as a result of which DNA replication and the synthesis of bacterial cellular proteins are impaired. Ciprofloxacin acts on both multiplying microorganisms and those at rest.
The spectrum of antibacterial action of ciprofloxacin includes gram-negative microorganisms: Esherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp. (indol-positive and indol-negative), Morganella morganii, Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Vibrio spp., Campylobacter spp., Hafnia spp., Providencia stuartii, Haemophilus influenzae, Pasteurella multoconpp. pseud. Legionella pneumophila, Neisseria spp., Moraxella catarrhalis, Acinetobacter spp., Brucella spp., Chlamidia spp. Gram-positive microorganisms are also sensitive to ciprofloxacin: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus pyogenes, St. agalactiae, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Listeria monocitogenes. The drug is low toxic.
Indications
Bacterial inflammatory diseases of the eye and its appendages: acute and subacute conjunctivitis
keratitis
anterior uveitis
blepharitis and other inflammatory diseases of the eyelids
dacryocystitis eye infections and its treatment and prevention.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug or other quinolones, pregnancy, lactation, and children under 1 year of age.
Special instructions
If the patient wears soft contact lenses, then he should not use Cypromed, since the preservative may deposit in soft contact lenses and have an adverse effect on eye tissue.
Remove hard contact lenses before instilling the drug and wear them again only after 15 minutes.
When using other ophthalmic preparations, the interval between their administration should be at least 5 minutes.
Immediately after instillation of the drug, a decrease in the clarity of vision and a slowdown in mental reactions are possible, which may reduce the ability to actively participate in street traffic, service cars or perform work without support. To an even greater extent, this occurs with the simultaneous use of the drug with alcohol.
