Pharmacological action
Chondroitin-Akos is a cartilage regeneration stimulator (chondroprotector), a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide derived from cattle cartilage trachea. It affects the metabolic processes in hyaline and fibrous cartilage, reduces degenerative changes in the cartilage tissue of the joints, and stimulates the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans. It suppresses the activity of enzymes that cause damage to cartilage, promotes the regeneration of the articular bag and cartilage surfaces of joints, increases the production of intraarticular fluid. It slows down bone resorption and reduces calcium loss, accelerates bone tissue repair processes. During treatment with the drug, pain decreases and the mobility of the affected joints improves. The therapeutic effect persists for a long time after the end of the course of treatment.
Indications
Degenerative diseases of the joints and spine:
- Osteoarthrosis.
- Osteochondrosis of the spine.
Contraindications
- Pregnancy.
- Lactation (breastfeeding).
- Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
Composition
1 capsule contains: chondroitin sulfate 250 mg.
Excipients: lactose, calcium stearate or stearic acid.
Dosage and administration of
The drug is administered orally. The therapeutic effect develops within 8-12 weeks of taking the drug.
Adults - 750 mg 2 times / day for the first 3 weeks, then - 500 mg 2 times / day for 9 weeks.
For children over 5 years of age, the drug is prescribed at a dose of 500-750 mg / day.
Side effects
From the digestive system: rarely - nausea, vomiting.
Allergic reactions: rarely - urticaria, cutaneous erythema, pruritus.
Drug Interaction
With the simultaneous use of the drug Chondroitin-AKOS with other drugs, it is possible to enhance the effect of indirect anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, fibrinolytics.
