Levomekol ointment 200 ml
DESCRIPTION
Levomekol ointment is a combined anti-inflammatory (dehydrating) and antimicrobial drug for topical use.
COMPOSITION
Levomekol ointment contains 100 g of levomycetin (chloramphenicol) - 0.75 g and methyluracil - 4 g as active ingredients, as well as auxiliary substances (polyethylene oxide 1500 and polyethylene oxide 400 or refined sunflower oil and petroleum jelly) - up to 100 g.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Easily penetrates deep into tissues without damaging biological membranes, stimulating regeneration processes. With purulent and necrotic tissue processes, the antibacterial effect is preserved.
Included in the composition of chloramphenicol is effective against many gram-positive cocci (staphylococci, streptococci, etc.), Escherichia coli and Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella, Shigella, etc., as well as some large viruses. Effective against strains of microorganisms resistant to penicillin, streptomycin, sulfonamides. Weakly active against acid-fast bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, clostridia and protozoa. The resistance of microorganisms to chloramphenicol develops relatively slowly.
The regenerating effect of Levomekol Ointment is due to methyluracil, which, easily penetrating deep into the tissues, activates the process of synthesis of new cells. Methyluracil activates the processes of eliminating excess fluid from inflamed tissues and relieves swelling. It has a stimulating effect on metabolic processes at the cellular level, which accelerates wound healing and tissue repair. Activates the production of interferon.
Interaction Levomekol ointment in combination with other drugs has not been described.
APPLICATION
The ointment is intended for the treatment of purulent wounds, trophic ulcers, boils and other skin diseases caused by mixed microflora. It is used to treat burns of 2 and 3 degrees. The tool is used to stop the active inflammatory process, eliminate pathogenic microbes and cleanse the wound from purulent contents and necrotic masses, as well as relieve edema.
The drug is applied topically. The ointment is impregnated with sterile gauze napkins, with which the wound is loosely filled.
In the purulent cavities, it is allowed to inject the drug, preheated to 35-36 В° C, through a catheter (drainage tube) using a syringe. The dressing should be changed daily, until the wound is completely cleared of purulent-necrotic masses. The ointment dressing can be changed more often if necessary.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The drug is contraindicated in case of individual intolerance and hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
SIDE EFFECTS
With prolonged use in an animal, skin irritation is possible at the site of application of the drug. In some cases, allergic manifestations are possible (rash, itching, urticaria).
Livestock products are used without restrictions during and after the application of the ointment.
